 "In 1871 the united States of America, a republic, became The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, a corporation (Please note capitalization). At that time our beloved Constitution was changed from being the Constitution for the united States of America to THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The word 'of' changed the intent of our Constitution from being a contract that limits the authority of government into a set of rules for the corporation. New York Times Attacking President Bush."If the only motive behind environmentalism were merely a morbid asceticism, the movement would hardly pose a threat to anyone outside of it. But there is a second, far more dangerous motive that environmentalism shares with socialism: the motive of resentment."In socialism, this motive is so obvious that it hardly needs comment. All one has to do is look at what has happened when socialists have attained complete power. In Russia, China, Cambodia, North Korea and Cuba, socialist governments have been responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent people and brutal imprisonment of millions more. Consider David Graber's statement in the Los Angeles Times Book Review: 'Until such time as homo sapiens should decide to rejoin nature,' Graber wrote, 'some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along.' And then there's the heart-warming sentiments of City University of New York philosophy Professor Paul Taylor: '[T]he ending of the human epoch on Earth would most likely be greeted with a hearty Good Riddance.' "Taylor and Graber are not the worst extremists in the environmentalist movement. There exists an organization called the 'Voluntary Human Extinction Movement.' Another group, which calls itself the 'Gaia Liberation Front,' has actually advocated the involuntary extinction of the human race. "'While we support all voluntary efforts to make the humans extinct, we do not exclude the involuntary route,' declared a GLF spokesperson in a newsletter entitled The Exit Times. "'At the rate that the humans are killing the Earth -- and for all we know she may have already passed the point of no return -- a decision to not reproduce, by itself, even if adopted immediately by every new human (as a result, say, of a new Gaia-worshiping religious movement) would be just too damn slow.'" "Take a careful look at what [radical leftists] still believe: not compassion, but resentment -- the envious whine of have not and want; not the longing for justice, but the desire for revenge; not a quest for peace, but a call to arms. It is war that feeds the true radical passions, which are not altruism and love, but nihilism and hate." Water vapor is about 2 percent and also a greenhouse gas. Most of the atmosphere consists of nitrogen (74 percent) and oxygen (23 percent)." That disputes the claim [source: "Mr. Gore, Carbon Dioxide is Not a Pollutant," Human Events, March 6, 1998, page 22] that water vapor is 95% of greenhouse gasses. However, regardless of the percent of water vapor, the amount of carbon dioxide is tiny, so all the cries to control it are, if you'll pardon the pun, just hot air! "The earth does not need to be protected from the people; it needs to be protected for the people. The people who can best protect the earth are the people who own it, who depend upon it, who want to pass it along to their own future generations. The best way to protect the planet is to allow individual citizens to own whatever they need, and can afford, to meet their own needs; they can and will be responsible for passing it on to subsequent generations. This idea is heresy to the advocates of Agenda 21."Private property is not included in the concept of sustainable development. Neither is the idea of individual freedom, or individual achievement.
