"Perhaps half a million [human] embryos lie frozen in U.S. clinics, and many are likely to continue to do so because fertility patients feel they don't have satisfactory options for dealing with embryos left over from their treatment, research suggests today. [. . .]

"[M]ore than half of the respondents said they were 'very unlikely' to donate extra embryos to another couple trying to have a baby. [. . .]

"The most popular option was donating the embryos for research, the survey found. Among patients who reported they didn't want a baby, four out of 10 said they'd be 'very likely' to donate their leftover embryos for research. [. . .] The problem [. . .] is that a ban on federal money for research involving embryos prevents most fertility patients from choosing that option. [. . .]

"Fewer than one in 10 said they were very likely to pick the other options, which included holding a ceremony while thawing and disposing of the embryos. One in seven said they were likely to freeze their embryos 'forever.' Clinics typically charge 'a few hundred dollars' annually to store frozen embryos [but] some clinics raise the price over time as an incentive for couples to get them out of storage."

Network anchor groupies tag along with Obama on his European campaign trip, with coverage of McCain paling into insignificance. The New York Times runs Obama's op-ed on Iraq, but then refuses to run McCain's a week later -- a low-level editor lecturing the GOP presidential candidate about how he needs to rework his column to bring it up to the Time's standards. We're talking about bias so outrageous, so transparent, so indefensible that it gives one shivers. [. . .]

"While things were going terribly and it looked like we were losing [the war in Iraq], coverage was constant and unrelentingly negative. Every IED attack, every political setback, every accusation of atrocities on the part of U.S. soldiers, every statement by Democrat leaders condemning the 'failed' Iraq war -- these led the evening news night after night.

"But recently, we don't hear much about Iraq. And the reason is: We're winning, and the big media are very uncomfortable with that. It doesn't fit into their paradigm dictating the direction America needs to go. [. . .]

"Let's take a look at what has been going on in Iraq. Miracles have been taking place there. A President Obsessed with Race

"Obama describes how he deliberately separated himself from his multiracial heritage in order to give himself a 100 percent black persona, different and alienated from the white world around him. Obama writes that the book is 'a record of a personal, interior journey' to establish himself as 'a black American.'

"With his new all-black identity, Obama stews about injustices that he never personally experienced and feeds his warped worldview by withdrawing into a 'smaller and smaller coil of rage.' He lives with a 'nightmare vision' of black powerlessness.

"Obama says that the hate doesn't go away. 'It formed a counter-narrative buried deep within each person and at the center of which stood white people -- some cruel, some ignorant, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives.'

"Obama's worldview sees U.S. history as a consistent tale of oppressors and oppressed. He objects to the public schools because black kids are learning 'someone else's history. Someone else's culture.'

"He even criticizes his white grandparents, who worked hard to give him a privileged life. Their motives are a mystery to Obama because they came from the 'landlocked center' of the United States, which, he asserts, is full of 'suspicion and the potential for unblinking cruelty.' [. . .]

"Although his mixed race was not a handicap in Hawaii, he whined that 'we were always playing on the white man's court . . . by the white man's rules.' [. . .]

"Obama immersed himself in the writings of radical blacks: Richard Wright, W.E.B. DuBois, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin and Langston Hughes. Obama's favorite became Malcolm X. [. . .]

"Obama described his happiness in going to Kenya: 'For the first time in my life, I felt the comfort, the firmness of identity that a name might provide.' He felt he 'belonged' and had come home. "There is absolutely nothing in this book that expresses pride in or love of or appreciation of America. Giving Credit Where Credit Is Due

A Different View of Slavery

"Have we ever stopped to consider where we black people, especially those of us in the West, would be right now if it weren't for the Atlantic Slave Trade? . . . Do you think that we would have been better off without slavery? I don't think so!

"When the Europeans went to Africa to buy slaves, what did they find? They found a society and people vastly inferior to theirs. While the Europeans had emerged from their feudal practices, our ancestors in Africa, for the most part, had not developed for many centuries. . . . Science and technology (and innovations in these areas) were non-existent in black Africa of the 15th and 16th centuries. . . . In many respects, we were uncivilized. . . .

"Our relatively stable societies today, especially in the West, are testaments to the benefits of slavery. While it is true that black Africa has, for the most part, squandered the opportunities that slavery offered in the past, the positive influence of European civilization cannot be denied. The black nation states of Africa and the Caribbean have given black people a sense of nation, a sense of identity, a sense of order and a sense of purpose -- things we never had before. . . .

The Europeans proclaimed the need for us to be civilized through slavery and though this may be hard to understand, they were right. In the name of a slip of arctic wasteland the size of the Dallas airport (in a state that is twice the size of Texas) they have blocked the development of Alaskan oil, which would provide consumers with the equivalent of 20 years of imports from Saudi Arabia. For 30 years, the Democrats and the American left have choked off America's energy, and with it a significant slice of Americans' freedom."

"Liberals are almost twice as angry as conservatives, with 27 percent of libs saying they have felt anger towards someone within the last week, compared to only 14 percent of conservatives, according to the General Social Survey.

"Fully half of liberals say they've used profanity in public in the last month, reports the General Social Survey, compared to only 27 percent of conservatives.

"A whopping 77 percent of conservatives say they feel 'peaceful' all or most of the time, according to the General Social Survey, with only 53 percent of liberals claiming the same.

"40 percent of conservatives say they're 'very happy,' with only 27 percent [of liberals] echoing the sentiment, reports the Pew Research Center. The happiness gap grows when measured by Party label -- 45 percent of Republicans to 30 percent of Democrats. [. . .]

"Harris Interactive and Eurobaromerer asked citizens of several countries if they agreed with the statement, 'On the whole, I am very satisfied with the life I lead.' Americans led the pack with 58 percent agreeing -- 33 percent of Brits and 16 percent of Italians concurred; only 18 percent of the French said 'oui.' When the International Social Survey Program asked for a reaction to the statement, 'My country is a good place to start a new business' a whopping 60 percent of Americans said yes; United Kingdom, 31 percent; France, 27 percent; Italy, 15 percent. "As Hoover Institution research fellow Peter Schweizer noted to National Review: 'When Pew asked Americans, can you get ahead in America by working hard? Four out of five Republicans said yes you can; amazingly, only 14 percent of Democrats agreed.' [. . .]

"Schweizer [. . .] continued: 'There are a dozen studies in academic journals (not done by conservative think tanks) that show conservatives tend to have a better work work ethic than liberals. Conservatives are less likely to call in sick, and more interested in assuming responsibilities on the job . . . [C]onservatives tend to want a job that offers them the opportunity to advance. Liberals tend to desire high pay and lots of vacation time."

"The left therefore regards the notion of American exceptionalism as chauvinism; the United Nations and world opinion are regarded as better arbiters of what is good than is America. The right has a low opinion of the U.N.'s moral compass and of world opinion [. . . .]

"The left is ambivalent about and often hostile to overt displays of American patriotism. [. . .]

The left subscribes to the French Revolution, whose guiding principles were 'Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.' The right subscribes to the American formula, 'Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.' [. . .]

"The left envisions an egalitarian society. The right does not. The left values equality above other values because it yearns for an America in which all people have similar amounts of material possessions. "The left wants to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples for the first time in history. The right wants gays to have equal rights, but to keep marriage defined as man-woman. [. . .]

"[C]alls for a unity among Americans that transcends left and right are either naive or disingenuous. America will be united only when one of them prevails over the other. The left know this. Most on the right do not."

Where Was Barack Obama Born?

Philip J. Berg, Esquire, the Attorney who filed suit against Barack H. Obama challenging Senator Obama’s lack of "qualifications" to serve as President of the United States, announced today that he is immediately appealing the dismissal of his case to the United States Supreme Court. The case is Berg v. Obama, No. 08-cv-04083.

Berg said,

"I am totally disappointed by Judge Surrick's decision and, for all citizens of the United States, I am immediately appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.

"This is a question of who has standing to uphold our Constitution. [The case was dismissed because Berg was ruled to have no "standing" to bring the suit.] If I don't have standing, if you don't have standing, if your neighbor doesn't have standing to question the eligibility of an individual to be President of the United States -- the Commander-in-Chief, the most powerful person in the world -- then who does?

"So, anyone can just claim to be eligible for congress or the presidency without having their legal status, age or citizenship questioned.

"According to Judge Surrick, we the people have no right to police the eligibility requirements under the U.S. Constitution.

"What happened to ‘Government of the people, by the people, for the people,’ Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address 1863.

"We must legally prevent Obama, the unqualified candidate, from taking the Office of the Presidency of the United States," Berg said.

It all started at the turn of the last century when the Progressives took control of the education system and gradually imposed their collectivist philosophy on the curriculum.

"The most destructive thing they did was reform the teaching of reading by throwing out the true and tried phonics method and imposing a whole-word method that would teach children to read our alphabetic English as if it were a pictographic language like Chinese, which would ultimately lead to the general decline of literacy in our country.

"Why were these crucial changes made? They were made so that the Progressive could shape future generations of American children to become collectivists instead of individuals. [Progressives] believed that evil was caused by ignorance, poverty, and social injustice, and that a collectivist society could eliminate all of that. [. . .]

"For [Anthony G.] Oettinger [CFR member and Harvard University professor of Information Resources Policy] and his fellow elitists, the ideal society is one in which the vast majority of people are minimally educated to a sub-literate comic-book level; a collectivized social order of unthinking docile workers who are dependent on an intellectual clerisy (Oettinger and company) for informational sustenance. [. . .]

"And what's the solution for parents? If they want to get their children out of Professor Oettinger's clutches, they'll have to home-school them or enroll them in private or parochial schools where literacy is not a burden, but a liberating force for good."

"In 1920, [Ivan Petrovich] Pavlov and his colleagues embarked on a long-term experimental investigation. The aim of the experiments was to learn how to artificially create human disorganization for the purpose of controlling and reorienting human behavior. [. . .]

"Why would [] Soviet psychologists spend so much time and effort trying to find out how to deliberately drive people crazy? The answer is simple. The Soviet Union believed itself to be the leader in a world revolution to convert everyone to communism, which required the conquest of all its capitalist enemies. And this was to be done not by military invasion but by psychological warfare under the guise of objective science. [. . .]

"Pavlov [as a result of his experiments with dogs] obtained very definite affective 'breaks,' an acute disorganization of behavior, each time that the conditioned reflexes collided, when the animal was unable to react to two mutually exclusive tendencies, or was incapable of adequately responding to any imperative problem.

"In short, the methodology [] is exactly the way our schools teach children to read. The child is taught to look at printed text as a string of little pictures, whole configurations, memorized in sight-vocabulary exercises. As a result he develops a whole-word conditioned reflex. At the same time he is taught something about the letters standing for sounds, a phonetic way of looking at words, which is very difficult to do if you are looking at the words as little pictures. For many children it is simply impossible; they cannot react to two 'mutually exclusive tendencies,' and thus become reading disabled, or dyslexic. On the other hand, if the child is taught exclusively by the look-say method. he is unlikely to be able to master reading our alphabetic writing system and is very likely to become functionally illiterate. "Pavlov's laboratory was used by the Soviet State to devise scientific methods of waging psychological warfare in a manner that would enlist behavioral scientists worldwide. Of course, if you were a dedicated Marxist, you considered this scientific activity to be to the ultimate benefit of mankind.

"They also experimented on creating another form of behavioral disorganization, which today we recognize as Attention Deficit Disorder."

Going Green: Short Cut to World Government

"[T]he American people, buried under an avalanche of environmentally-correct propaganda, have blindly accepted the go-green mantra, missing its connection to their economic woes. [. . .]

"[The Millennium Development Goal] refers to the Declaration adopted by the United Nations Millennium Assembly and Summit in 2000 (blessed by President Bill Clinton) which called for the 'eradication of poverty' by 'redistribution [of] wealth and land,' cancellation of 'the debts of developing countries,' and 'a fair distribution of the earth's resources' (from the United States to the rest of the world, of course). [. . .] By adopting the Millennium Goals in 2000, the UN escalated its demands for the UN to impose international taxes. Specifically, the Millennium called for a 'currency transfer tax,' a 'tax on the rental value of land and natural resources,' 'royalty on worldwide fossil energy projection -- oil, natural gas, coal,' 'fees for the commercial use of the oceans, fees for airplane use of the skies, fees for use of the electromagnetic spectrum, fees on foreign exchange transactions, and a tax on the carbon content of fuels.' "There is much more to the Millennium Goals than merely extorting more money from U.S. taxpayers. The Goals [. . .] include a 'standing Peace Force' (i. e., a UN standing army), a 'UN Arms register' of all small arms and light weapons, 'peace education' covering 'all levels from pre-school through university,' and 'political control of the global economy.' The Goals call for implementing all the UN treaties that the United States has never ratified, all of which set up UN monitoring committees to invade our sovereignty. [. . .]

[T]he plan calls for 'strengthening the United Nations for the 21st Century' by 'eliminating' the veto and permanent [U.S.] membership in the Security Council. The goal is to reduce U.S. influence to l out of 192 nations, so we would have merely the same vote as Cuba."

Making the Energy Problem Worse

"Similarly, more than 85 percent of U.S. coastal waters off the lower 48 states are off-limits to oil and natural-gas exploration. There is, says API, 'enough natural gas in those waters to heat 60 million homes for another 160 years.'

The Homosexual Agenda

"The advocates of same-sex marriage do not seek tolerance for homosexuals. They have already accomplished this. Sodomy laws have been struck down. Gays and lesbians are free to engage in sexual activity in the privacy of their bedrooms.

"What they now seek is something different: The legitimization of their lifestyle. By pushing for gay marriage, they are demanding that society give its stamp of approval to homosexuality. The homosexual agenda therefore is not about 'civil rights.' Rather, it is about taking the sexual revolution to its logical dystopian conclusion -- the creation of a new social order based on moral relativism, hedonism and individual gratification.

The West's Death Wish

For several decades, white women have been reared in an unprecedented manner: They have been encouraged to do almost anything but marry and have children. It is extremely difficult for any society to make its young women unattractive to its own young men, but the West now appears close to succeeding. [. . .]

"Experts report that in cases involving child custody, women initiate divorce almost every time. Courts routinely award them custody and generous child support payments regardless of whether the man is at fault. [. . .] The ordinary white man [. . .] will be more encouraged to marry a white woman and start a family as his ancestors did only if the effects of feminism can be undone. [. . .]

"We are practicing both low fertility and low parental investment. Who Empowered Mugabe?

"Robert Mugabe [Zimbabwe's prime minister] is only partly to blame for the suffering of his countrymen. The people and entities -- such as Time and the CFR [Council on Foreign Relations] -- who aided Mugabe's ascension to power in place of a law-abiding, limited government must take their share of the blame. "Back during the Carter administration, the recently independent, free, and prosperous nation of Rhodesia was led by Prime Minister Ian Smith who, since 1972, had presided over Rhodesia's struggle against a guerrilla army of brutal Marxist thugs led by Robert Mugabe and his soon-to-be-estranged comrade in arms, Joshua Nkomo.

"Citing convenient abstractions like the 'right of self-determination,' the Carter administration, including Council on Foreign Relations stalwarts like then-Secretary of State Cyrus Vance as well as President Carter himself, made it clear that it was supporting the Marxist insurgency. [. . .]

"In 1980, Smith bowed to U.S.-led international political, economic, and military pressure and surrendered the government of Rhodesia to Mugabe and his murderous followers. [. . .]

"Once firmly in command, Mugabe turned on rival black factions that had joined his coalition and carried out a year-long bloodbath that claimed many thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of lives, and literally wiped out most of the remaining opposition."

[Presumably Carter's action was to empower blacks in Africa and to pander to U.S. blacks. Unless his objective was to expand Marxism.]

Drugging the Kids

"All psychiatric treatments exert their primary or intended effect by disabling brain functions, says Peter Breggin, M.D., author of Toxic Psychiatry and other books critical of the use of psychiatric drugs. Dr. Breggin maintains that no existing psychiatric treatment corrects or improves existing brain dysfunction, such as a biochemical imbalance, which he argues is the major misunderstanding about psychiatry that the profession prefers to hide, and which places it outside the realm of proper treatment for disorders.

"Yet courts, state child protective services agencies, and schools are now working in tandem, backed by the power of the law, to mandate that children as young as three years old take multiple psychotropic drugs despite the lack of a provable scientific basis for such treatments. [. . .]

"Dr. Fred Baughman, Jr., a pediatric neurologist and author of The ADHD Fraud: How Psychiatry Makes Patients of Normal Children, and an outspoken foe of the use of these drugs, has stated, 'The medication typically prescribed for ADHD and learning disorders is a hazardous and addictive amphetamine-like drug.' Its side effects are intense and often permanent: stunted growth, depression, tics, rashes, spasms, psychosis, and ironically, 'attentional disturbances' and hyperactivity when the drug is taken for a long period."

The Cholesterol Scare Is a Hoax

"The American Heart Association is a nationwide, publicly funded organization. In the early 1950's, it ordered a study of the whole diet-cholesterol-CHD [coronary heart disease] question. In 1957, the results of the study were disclosed. It revealed that there was overwhelming evidence that diet had no effect on blood (serum) cholesterol levels. What did the American Heart Association do? Nothing . . . for four years. It sat on the report and waited. Is it too much for the public, which funds the studies the AHA does, to expect the organization to demonstrate its honesty and integrity? The AHA had two choices. It could reveal the truth about the results of the study or it could do additional studies to confirm or reject the results. It did neither.

"In 1961, the American Heart Association jumped on the diet-cholesterol-CHD bandwagon. This stand completely disregarded the study which had just been completed. The new diet recommendation was for a low-fat, low-cholesterol regimen which allowed only three eggs a week. This diet ostensibly would lead to a lower cholesterol level and prevent the development of CHD. Not only did the AHA know better, but it was playing with the lives of millions of Americans who are urged to avoid the most nutritious foods such as eggs, whole milk, beef, butter among others.

"Thirty-five years and billions of dollars of research after the abandonment of integrity, the AHA continues to hew to the diet-cholesterol-CHD line. It ignores the vast accumulation of studies which betray the diet theory. Indeed, the mother of all heart studies which is now 49 years old, 'The Framingham Heart Study,' which is funded by the National Institutes of Health, has proved overwhelmingly that diet is not involved in the development of CHD.

"In its 1970 study titled, 'Diet and the Regulation of Serum Cholesterol,' the Framingham researchers proclaim very clearly that dietary cholesterol does not increase blood (serum) cholesterol. They also stated that saturated fats did not increase blood cholesterol. It is troubling to see that these important findings, which are funded by public tax money have been carefully hidden from view . . ."
