POEMS for YEAR 2001

When worries beset me, extracting a toll,
I press pen to paper, and spill out my soul.

New Year's Resolution -- a limerick
Posted here for: 12-28-01.

It's rare that to start the year, I've
Defined targets for which I'll strive.
- - - But this year I say
- - - I hope and I pray
To simply in '02 survive!

Sweet Tidings
Posted here for: 12-17-01.

Oh, Christmas tidings now are nigh;
'Tis time for Santa, mincemeat pie,
For holly wreaths and tinsel tree,
For happy laughter, children's glee.

The birth of Christ we celebrate,
Though often do not consecrate,
As we take time with gifts and food
To manifest a mellow mood.

The season, goodness, it renews,
As kindly thoughts and acts we choose.
Our hearts are warmed, emotions swell,
As Christmas casts its magic spell.

Relinquish to the season's charm
Your fear, frustration, and alarm.
Sweet tidings, friends, I'd like to say,
This happy, holy, holiday.

Multiculturalism Über-Alles -- a limerick
Posted here for: 12-10-01.

Please note that the folks who are deft
At censuring us as bereft
- - - Of Moslem concern,
- - - When flag passions burn,
Are always the folks on the Left.

A Warm Reception Awaits -- a limerick
Posted here for: 12-3-01.

Osama bin Laden's been hidin'.
His time O. bin Laden's been bidin'.
- - - His future looks bleak;
- - - Short lived, so to speak.
In Hades he'll soon be residin'.

Slight Miscalculation -- a limerick
Posted here for: 11-26-01.

Osama's rethinking his plan
While huddled in Afghanistan.
- - - His moment of fame
- - - Has gone up in flame,
As has the depraved Taliban!

I Call It What It Is -- a limerick
Posted here for: 11-19-01.

Each wetland, with pageant and pomp,
Is honored so critters can romp.
- - - But each is to me,
- - - As 'twas pre-PC,
A stinky and dirty old swamp!

The Price of Freedom Is Eternal Vigilance
Posted here for: 11-12-01.

A multitude of enemies applauds our recent woes,
But not because of evils wrought by our sadistic foes.
Instead, like magic slight of hand, our gaze is turned away
From all the vicious tricks on us that they intend to play.

With hijacked planes and anthrax scares, the people are afraid,
And far more willing freedom's gifts for safety they will trade.
Our enemies are keen and shrewd and calculating, too.
Their hate and evil exploits we must never misconstrue.

The FBI Was Busy -- a limerick
Posted here for: 11-5-01.

For eight years the FBI fight
Was fierce and was fought with great might.
- - - Against such a foe
- - - As terrorists? No!
Against the conservative Right!

What Price Freedom?
Posted here for: 10-29-01.

What price for freedom will we pay
When evil acts strip it away?
What sacrifice will we endure
A free republic to ensure?

How precious is the liberty
That keeps us whole, and noble, free?
How sacred is this country's scheme
To hatch this fragile freedom dream?

The quandary that we now must solve:
How deep indeed is our resolve?
How long the toil, how much the pain
Will we endure for freedom's reign?

How brave, how strong, how set are we
To stand forthwith for liberty?
To shed the blood, to lose the lives
To guarantee freedom survives?

The Right Is Right -- a limerick
Posted here for: 10-22-01.

The citizens now are embracing
Proposals to fight what we're facing:
- - - A stronger defense,
- - - A keen border sense,
All measures the Left's been debasing.

Rush Limbaugh Announces He Is Deaf -- a limerick
Posted here for: 10-15-01.

Though Rush Limbaugh's deaf in each ear,
His broadcasts won't soon disappear.
- - - The people tune in
- - - To truth, without spin;
They listen, but many don't hear.

Special Delvery for a Mr. bin Laden -- a limerick
Posted here for: 10-8-01.

Our bombers, we all can assume,
Are laden with bin Laden doom.
- - - The payload, you know,
- - - On impact will go:
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, BOOM!

With Friends Like These . . . -- a limerick
Posted here for: 10-1-01.

The peaceniks, with pomp and parading,
Are greatly our enemies aiding.
- - - While casting aspersion
- - - On any incursion,
Our lives for their bombast they're trading.

WTC Phoenix
Posted here for: 9-24-01.

I watched in utter disbelief
The tumbling towers, terror, grief.
The confidence and verve at dawn
Were, with the towers, by noon gone.

Yet, from the dust and smoke and fire
Emerged resolve, intent, desire
To stand for freedom and, by gum,
To blast the perps to kingdom come!

9-1-1- Aftermath
Posted here for: 9-17-01.

In tragic times our compass spins
When evil over goodness wins.
Unanswered questions overwhelm,
Disrupting calm and peaceful realm.

Confusion and chaos revolve
Around a growing new resolve.
Awakened from its hideaway:
The spirit of the USA!

Culling Little Billy
Posted here for: 9-10-01.

Now, little Billy's test results created quite a stir.
They caused the teachers to consult their books and then confer.
It seems that Billy's profile matched and fit right to a T
Computer profiles that were hatched for abnormality.

But little Billy was a tease, his answers: insincere.
But now with teachers to appease, his penalty: severe.
First Ritalin to calm the boy, then training, very strict.
Computer tests they did employ, behavior to predict.

Well, little Billy, quite a scamp, just wouldn't play the game.
At poking fun he was a champ, until policemen came.
His tests proved he was dangerous; a threat to one and all.
The state must do its duty; thus, they followed protocol.

His parents cried when agents came to take poor Bill away.
"It's just not fair. It's just a shame," was all that they could say.
The taking, like a million more, was hardly justified.
Like many who had come before, soon after, Billy died.

Diversity -- a limerick
Posted here for: 9-3-01.

The lib'rals all love it, and how.
To gods of diverseness they bow.
- - - All races and creeds,
- - - All colors and breeds
(But none on the Right) they allow.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
Posted here for: 8-27-01.

It's not to protect pleasant discourse:
Words raising no eyebrows nor ire.
"Free Speech" is instead about this course:
Protection for brimstone and fire.

Thus, slurs and insults and great rudeness
Are sanctioned and guarded with care,
Revealing our Founders' great shrewdness
For freedom and life laissez-faire.

Reparations Versus E Pluribus Unum?
Posted here for: 8-20-01.

The Blacks, we're told, have been oppressed with slav'ry, prejudice.
Indeed, it's true, a charge I think no wise man would dismiss.
The question isn't history, but rather here and now.
For sins in eons past are we today to them to bow?

Atrocities around the world, injustices, are rife,
But hardship, woe, and heartbreak are ingredients of life.
Should Christians, now, demand their take for Coliseum Rome
And spend eternity those lion battles to bemoan?

The lib'rals pound their chests in righteous indignation boast:
Their preferential treatment demonstrates they care the most.
But preferential treatment demonstrates Blacks can't compete;
They need a lower bar to jump if standards they must meet.

Conservatives have more respect and higher expectation.
They see the lib'ral schemes as pure and simple subjugation.
The Blacks, the Jews, Hispanics all must meld and overcome
Their "woe is me" perspective, and must make "from many one".

Where Have the Real Women Gone? -- a limerick
Posted here for: 8-13-01.

The liberal women's lib movement
Has def'nitely not made improvement.
- - - To be like the men,
- - - They dropped standards. Then
Were shocked at the men's "disapprovement".

After Freedom -- What Then?
Posted here for: 8-6-01.

When Constitution guarantees
Are shrugged of like a collie's fleas,
When lies, deception are the rule;
And he who protests is a fool,

When smoking or an SUV
Is ostracized as un-PC,
When eco-maniacs proclaim
Raw power, absolute, their game,

When certain speech, considered flawed,
On campuses is now outlawed,
And certain crimes we perpetrate
Are worse because they're "filled with hate",

When we cannot protect our lives
When murderer or crook arrives,
For guns, all locked and stored away,
Aren't handy when we stand at bay,

When government, by law or rule,
Declares your faith a useless tool
And judges prayer forbidden from
The high school auditorium,

When justice, equal, which prevailed,
Is now contorted and curtailed --
The guilty get a pass in court,
The innocent have no resort --

When global tyranny's exposed
And global might is unopposed,
When sovereignty and nation pride
Are silently "desanctified",

What then? What then of sacrifice
Of millions who have paid the price
For freedom, and its blessings sought
For centuries, but now for naught?

Socialism in Action
Posted here for: 7-30-01.

It's been suggested by the left
That we'd be better off bereft
Of SUVs and other "toys"
That sprinkle life with spicy joys.

But if by force we must conserve
And follow leftist whim and verve,
The cost of saving energy
Will be constraints on liberty!

EPA to the Rescue
Posted here for: 7-23-01.
Item: "Klamath Falls, Oregon: A federal court ruled this spring, in a lawsuit by radical environmentalists, that two species of endangered suckerfish have more rights under the Endangered Species Act than local farmers who have been using the Klamath River Basin for over 100 years to irrigate their farmland. Their only water supply was shut off. Without water the farms and the entire community will die. In desperation, the farmers opened the canal gates and let the water flow. Saturday, Federal Marshals moved in to shut off the water again. There is presently a tense, but peaceful standoff at the Klamath Basin."
Source: American Policy Center e-mail of 7-16-01.

Just trust the fed'ral bureaucrat
To serve your every wish.
You Can't where Klamath Falls is at,
Unless you are a fish!

You can believe the government
Will kiss with every pucker,
That feds indeed are heaven sent;
You can if you're a sucker!

They're Animals
Posted here for: 7-16-01.

If Democrats were animals, just what kind would they be?
Pit bulls, perhaps, or viper snakes with poison pedigree,
Or possibly piranha with their vicious snapping jaws,
Or massive killer sharks with rows of teeth as sharp as saws.

More apt might be a virus -- anthrax or bubonic plague.
Their deeds are so destructive and their honor ever vague.
But no, they're more like lions, roaring, as if they're possessed.
They growl, they scratch, they snarl; indeed, at lyin' they're the best!

Morality in the Government Schools
Posted here for: 7-9-01.

By teaching in school just one lesson,
That absolutes do not exist,
The government now has a mess on
Its hands, that will surely persist.

No absolutes mean that no student
Is right in his thinking or wrong.
All actions, then, good/bad, are prudent.
The soul is thus dead, the head strong.

Eco-Maniacs
Posted here for: 6-25-01.

Each eco-nut: a misanthrope,
With vain disdain and little hope
For man; but nature: only praise --
So ardent is their eco-craze.

Forecasting Weather
Posted here for: 6-18-01.

The weather is tricky, its science, complex.
So forecasters constantly stick out their necks.
Is rain gonna greet us, or sunshine, or snow
A week from next Tuesday? They simply don't know.

The path of a hurricane? Anyone's guess.
Predictions with certainty they don't possess.
Computers, technology, satellites, too,
All fail to dramatically extend their view.

But now come environment agents who say
The decades ahead they can see right today.
The globe, it is warming, they give us their word.
Their sinister warning the whole world has heard.

Now this is the bunch who just scant years ago
Declared Global Cooling the scenario.
So here's a prediction for these eco folks:
Your warning and scare tactics are but a hoax!

Created Unequal -- a limerick
Posted here for: 6-11-01.

For Chelsea the press did refrain
From criticism and disdain.
- - - But, now with a Bush,
- - - The media push
On Jenna a scandal campaign.

Jeffords Reveals His Top Priority
Posted here for: 6-4-01.

With pokes to the eyes of the voters,
And stabs to the hearts of his friends,
He carefully revved Judas motors
To reach egotistical ends.

A Tax Cut . . . Sort Of -- a limerick
Posted here for: 5-24-01.

A tax cut, they now say, is due us,
Returning a mere pittance to us.
- - - The cut, it appears,
- - - Will take six long years.
Again, they have managed to screw us!

United Nations to the Rescue! -- a limerick
Posted here for: 5-14-01.

For peacekeeping, proudly they're there.
Their influence is everywhere.
- - - But when the Chinese,
- - - Decided to seize
Our plane, well it's then laissez faire.

Charge!!! -- a limerick
Posted here for: 5-7-01.

When black "leaders" slander the Right,
They cripple the cause of their fight.
- - - Their purpose, not "Black",
- - - Is merely attack,
On ev'ry conservative White.

Quid Pro Quo
Posted here for: 4-30-01.

The leftists teach their lesson well
To blacks, their chosen clientele:
Blacks' fearsome fate, their pitied plights
Are all devised by racist whites.

The leftists think it's worth the price
To offer up as sacrifice
Black pride and hope, which pride promotes.
They curry hate to carry votes.

Freedom's Bounds
Posted here for: 4-16-01.

There are some folks (they're liberals) who view our freedoms thus:
There are no limits or constraints the Founders placed on us.
Within, of course, the bounds of law, the limits of the state.
But I protest and I object. Let me elaborate.

While we are free to speak our mind and utter what we please,
We are obliged to prudence, good relations to appease.
The liberals, however, seem to think that freedom's lost
Unless, like Howard Stern, each smutty bridge is quickly crossed.

The liberals demand for their expression to be free
The filthiest of art and drama for a legacy.
And then to validate their vile products they insist
The government must foot the bill, like a philanthropist.

My view, instead, is there are bounds constraining freedom's reach:
Good taste and common decency to counter vernal breach.
Responsibility is key for freedom to survive,
And if embraced wholeheartedly our freedoms then will thrive.

Trysts Have Consequences -- a limerick
Posted here for: 4-9-01.

In Russia B. Yeltsin knew well
Of Monica, Bill's Jezebel.
- - - What blackmail ensued
- - - We can not conclude,
As no one is willing to tell.

Hillary: "Smartest Woman in the World" -- a limerick
Posted here for: 4-2-01.

She doesn't know facts of Whitewater,
Nor records, Rose billing, she 'oughter".
- - - For someone so smart
- - - She's dumb as a tart;
As "dumb" as her hubby who taught her.

Them and Us -- a limerick
Posted here for: 3-26-01.

The bright, speckled wart bug rests easy,
Although, for an insect, it's sleazy.
- - - "Endangered," it's safe --
- - - Each orphan and waif --
While human unborn remain queasy.

Clinton's Follies -- a limerick
Posted here for: 3-19-01.

His scandals, corruption, and sleaze
Endure and enrage and . . . oh, please!
- - - When clear blame exists
- - - And outrage persists,
He's off on a trip overseas.

The Fight Never Ends
Posted here for: 3-12-01.

As sunshine for flowers, and seas for the fish,
As yearnings and cravings take flight on a wish,
As moons need a sun to reflect a bright glow,
And summers their rainstorms and winters their snow,

The spirit of man, if to soar, must be free,
Unshackled, unchained, unrestrained, totally.
The struggle of man, since he stepped on this Earth,
Is fighting for freedom for all that he's worth.

After He's Gone
Posted here for: 3-5-01.

The Democrats loudly now bray,
"Bill Clinton did wrong," they all say.
But why did it take for this lout
Eight years just to figure this out?

Powermongers Bill & Hillary
Posted here for: 2-26-01.

The pattern: familiar. The MO: now clear.
The scandals: quite rampant, obscene, cavalier.
But what is most scary -- it chills to the bone --
Is: how many scandals remain yet unknown?

Doctor Jekyll and Ms. Hyde
Posted here for: 2-19-01.

First Lady Hillary: coiffured and grand.
Senator Hillary: Plain Jane and bland.
Stark is the contrast; so what is the deal?
Far more important: is either one real?

Second-Story Man -- a limerick
Posted here for: 2-12-01.

Bill Clinton won't say that he's sorry
For actions quite confiscatory.
- - - It's his White House loot.
- - - Says he, "No dispute!"
But folks don't believe his first story.

Jesse Jackson's Illegitimate Child -- a limerick
Posted here for: 2-5-01.

There once was a minister: Jackson,
Whose seed in nine months caused contraction.
- - - A love child was born.
- - - Poor Jesse would mourn:
He couldn't drop bombs for distraction.

Bipartisanship Indeed
Posted here for: 1-29-01.

"Bipartisanship" was the liberal line:
We all work together -- we get along fine.
But deeds followed rhetoric, whereby we found,
Coop'rative spirit was nowhere around,

At Ashcroft all manner of missiles was thrown.
Bipartisanship was a concept unknown.
Its meaning to lib'rals is clear then, to wit:
Support their agenda or they'll have a fit!

Inaugural Celebrations
Posted here for: 1-22-01.

As DC donned its gaiety
With mounds of "canape-ity"
And champagne bubbles, foam, and spray
To toast inauguration day,

There's Mr. Clinton on the scene
To scratch the shine and dull the sheen,
With rain to toss on each parade
By "poop-in-punch-bowl" cavalcade.

WJC -- Be Gone
Posted here for: 1-15-01.

Be gone with your hypocrisy that tarnishes democracy.
Be gone with your virility for rampant uncivility.
And with corrupt, deceitful ways and moral, ethical malaise
Be gone! For your mendacity contaminates veracity.

Be gone with your complicity in masterful duplicity.
Be gone with your seductive schemes which dim our country’s freedom dreams.
Be gone with crooks whom you defend and culprits whom you call your friend.
Be gone with you! For this I yearn: your silence and your non-return.

Fairness Ain't Equality
Posted here for: 1-8-01.

For liberals it’s fairness; that is what they’re all about.
The rich are much too rich they say; the poor too poor they shout.
To right all wrongs there is for them a single remedy:
It’s ever bigger government and federal decree.

Conservatives, however, have a diff’rent point of view.
Their focus is equality; it's what they ballyhoo.
It's equal opportunity and justice they discern,
For equal outcomes, instituted, that is what they spurn.

The trickery of "fairness" is a masterful deceit,
For who defines it but the lib'ral government elite.
So leftists spin their web of what is fair and what is not,
While "rightists" want each citizen to have an equal shot.

The liberals feel free to break a law they deem unfair.
Why, that is simply tyranny, conservatives declare.
Thus lib'rals wish, for "fairness" sake, an aristocracy.
Instead, concerned conservatives prefer the people free!

Eco Nuts are Green and Red
Posted here for: 1-1-01.

The centuries come and the centuries go.
The tornadoes twist and the hurricanes blow.
Some glaciers advance, while some others recede.
To quell nature's fury you can't intercede.

Volcanos erupt, belching lava and fire,
While earthquakes to shatter and shake do conspire.
Tsunami, El Nino -- the earth has been stormed!
Life's patterns are changing, the landscape's transformed.

Some species are massacred, others are spared,
But life on this planet goes on unimpaired.
The balance of nature is strong and robust;
From pummeling punches it can readjust.

"We must save all species!" This plea we've all heard,
But saving each pest in each pond is absurd.
The eco insistence is merely a means
Of yielding control and our future to Greens.

Poems from Year 2000.

The way back home.
