"2003" -- a limerick
Posted here for: 12-30-02.

I wish you a Happy New Year,
With good health, good luck, and good cheer.
- - - I wish those of terror
- - - Would grant they're in error,
So all of us can persevere.

"Merry Christmas" -- a limerick
Posted here for: 12-16-02.

'Tis magic for everyone who'll
Repeat it with joy every Yule.
- - - So say it with cheer,
- - - And loudly, and clear,
But certainly not in a school!

Mary Landrieu Is Re-elected in the Louisiana Senate Runoff Vote -- a limerick
Posted here for: 12-9-02.

The vote-counters' job is now done.
Political spin has been spun.
- - - But, with leftists counting,
- - - My worries are mounting:
I wonder -- hmmm -- who really won.

A Lower Calling -- a limerick
Posted here for 12-2-02.

Up north of the border from Seoul
They lie about nucl'ar control.
- - - Says Saddam Hussein,
- - - "Me? Weapons? Inane!"
Some leaders will sacrifice soul.

INS: Imminent National Suicide -- a limerick
Posted here for 11-25-02.

The wretched, the sick, the insane
Pour into this country like rain.
- - - Illegally here,
- - - Their presence, I fear,
Our final demise will explain.

Bin Laden Tape Appears -- a limerick
Posted here for 11-18-02.

Bin Laden's been keepin' his head
In caves, where it's safe, it's been said.
- - - Just like the ground hog,
- - - Whose sight is prologue,
His "shadow" means trouble ahead!

What Went "Wrong"? -- a limerick
Posted here for 11-11-02.

As usual, the lib'rals played rough,
Intent, ballot boxes, to stuff.
- - - They stuffed all around,
- - - But now they have found
They didn't stuff nearly "enough"!

Doin' What Comes Naturally
Posted here for 11-4-02.

The trucker likes to drive his rig. The golfer likes to putt.
The excavator likes to dig. The surgeon likes to cut.
The farmer likes to sow and reap. The baker likes to bake.
The shopper likes to buy it cheap, while merchants money make.
The sportsman likes to hunt and fish. The glutton likes to eat.
Romantics like to make a wish. But no one likes defeat.
All scholars like to read a lot. All pilots like to fly.
All potheads like to have their pot. All lib'rals like to lie.

Non-Stop Coverage -- a limerick
Posted here for 10-28-02.

The cable news teams earn they pay.
They're on the air all night and day.
- - - In search of what's new,
- - - With facts often few,
They talk, though there's nothing to say.

The Re-"Election" of Saddam Hussein -- a limerick
Posted here for 10-21-02.

His power he will not release.
His dictatorship will not cease.
- - - He got every vote
- - - (Defeat was remote --
His defectors now rest in peace.)

Ode to Reed Irvine
Presented at the October 5, 2002 AIM (Accuracy In Media) Conference just outside of Washington, DC.

Posted here for 10-14-02.

(With all due credit to Joyce Kilmer, William Shakespeare, and William Wordsworth.)

I think that I shall never see
One dedicated so as he
To searching like a super sleuth
Along the tangled trail for truth.

Like bloodhounds haunted with a scent,
He searches, and he won't relent
Until the facts are all revealed,
Triumphant on the battlefield.

Tom, Dan, and Peter fear his song
For Reed with truth will prove them wrong.
The New York Times, and Journal, too,
With Reed will have their rendezvous.

Our governmental agencies
Too often hoodwink to appease
The citizens, and calm their fears
To "prove" it's not as it appears.

And then to hide their evil deeds
Still further falsity proceeds,
And thus, deception does accrue.
‘Tis pity, ‘tis, ‘tis sad, but true.

But Reed is there to right the wrong,
Refuse the bait, not go along,
When those with power, will, and might
Prefer to history rewrite.

While some might say they'll never see
A poem lovely as a tree,
I quickly say to them: Forsooth!
Behold the beauty of the Truth!

Just look around and you'll deduce
That Nature's beauty is profuse.
The rocks, the trees, a distant hill,
A host of golden daffodil.

But Truth, in true perfection, pure,
Is truly rare, indeed obscure.
Too often in our troubled times
It's missing from our paradigms.

Thus Irvine's quest and his crusade –
His hallowed, sacred escapade –
For Truth is noble, and ‘tis brave
Us from deception for to save.

And thus on this occasion, then,
Together, ladies, gentlemen,
We pause to pay to him his due,
With proper pomp and ballyhoo.

With worthy principles he came,
With honor, honesty his "AIM".
He fought the fights and won the day;
To Reed: "Well done; Hip, hip hooray!"

Introducing Representative Bob Barr
at the AIM (Accuracy In Media) Conference just outside of Washington, DC, 10-5-02

(It was a real thrill for me to make the introduction.)

Posted here for 10-7-02.

He came to serve in ‘94,
Some ethics, honor, to restore
To Congress and the DC scene;
From East to West and in between.

He holds the Constitution high,
And understands those who deny
Its role to make this country great
This country they do denigrate.

He stands up tall for those with guns;
The Sarah Brady bunch he shuns.
His gun rights passion ain't passé;
He's on the board of NRA!

This Georgia peach, this Georgia prize,
We all have come to realize,
Votes Right. On that there's no debate.
His lifetime rating: 98!

This man from Georgia had the will
To honor Reagan's greatness, skill,
And so it is with great acclaim
The DC airport bears Ron's name.

He had the strength, the bravery,
For something quite unsavory:
To be the first one to beseech
The House, Bill Clinton to impeach.

A Pro-Life Caucus member, he,
A fighter for our towns drug free,
He proudly wears a lawyer's hat.
(But let's try to forgive him that.)

He serves his state and nation well,
In more ways than I've time to tell.
Impressive, the achievements are
Of this great congressman, Bob Barr!

National Masochism
Posted here for 9-30-02.

What fool would trade his destiny
For dire ends he can foresee?
What dunce would yield his right to choose
To those who wish him to abuse?

What idiot would place his bet
On agents who he will regret,
Who demonstrate their great disdain
For actions leading to his gain?

What nincompoop would join a cult
Where sovereignty restraints result,
Where enemies decide your fate,
When you're the object of their hate?

The answer: It's those leftists, who,
With Pollyanna, naive view,
Will gladly cast our nation's soul,
Imprisoned, to UN control.

Janet Reno Loses the Primary -- a limerick
Posted here for 9-23-02.

Her voter appeal clearly saggin',
She leaves in her little red wagon.
- - - I happily cheer for
- - - The ended career for
This dangerous liberal dragon.

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) -- a limerick
Posted here for 9-16-02.

To push global rule, it was founded,
For government power unbounded.
- - - To me, though, I reason,
- - - That sounds just like treason.
These folks and their cause should be grounded!

Honoring Patriots -- a limerick
Posted here for 9-9-02.

September eleventh, some say,
Should be proclaimed "Patriots' Day".
- - - But lib'rals say, "No",
- - - Disrespect it would show
To those who abhor USA.

Bill Clinton Negotiates for a TV Talk Show -- a limerick
Posted here for 9-2-02.

For money, his "honor" he'll doff
To have a TV show. Don't scoff.
- - - More lies and more scams
- - - In front of the "cam's".
What fun to just -- click -- turn him off!

Baseball -- a limerick
Posted here for 8-26-02.

This sport has its problems, you see:
Disputes and unrest, A to Z.
- - - With troubles galore,
- - - They've struck twice before,
So this time will be, then, strike three!

Michael Jackson's Popularity on the Wane -- a limerick
Posted here for 8-19-02.

With record sales not out of sight,
The singer, enraged, starts a fight.
- - - The reason: "It's race,"
- - - He says with straight face.
Excuse me, but isn't he white?

Lesson Learned from Kenneth Timmerman's New Book, "Shakedown -- Exposing the Real Jesse Jackson" -- a limerick
Posted here for 8-12-02.

I've read: JJ, keen and astute,
With skill at extortion acute,
- - - Would threaten a lot
- - - A racial boycott,
And always come home with the loot.

Two Faced -- a limerick
Posted here for 8-5-02.

The Dems are enraged; they're near riot.
They claim they're incensed; I don't buy it.
- - - They loudly decry
- - - The corporate lie,
But when it was Clinton's, were quiet!

Celebrating Loses -- a limerick
Posted here for 7-29-02.

The stock market, on the way down,
Makes loyal Americans frown.
- - - But all can now hear
- - - The Democrats cheer
The bad news from Washington town.

Today's Education -- a limerick
Posted here for 7-22-02.

Kids learn many valuable tools,
So they, when grown up, won't be fools.
- - - But also they're taught
- - - Pure liberal thought
At all of the government schools.

Women Need Not Apply -- a limerick
Posted here for 7-15-02.

I'm starting a club, which, you see,
Will violate current PC.
- - - The first rule, I've vowed:
- - - "No women allowed!"
There'll be just one member -- that's me!

Dad's Wisdom -- a limerick
Posted here for 7-8-02.

"'Tis an imperfect world," he would say,
When injustice or crime was at play.
- - - Events we now see
- - - Are proving that he,
Though right then, is more so today!

Learning from the Boy Scouts -- a limerick
Posted here for 6-24-02.

The Catholic Church was outsmarted
When, from common sense, it departed.
- - - Had it not allowed
- - - The sodomy crowd,
The scandal would never have started!

Socialized Wages -- a limerick
Posted here for 6-17-02.

The concept of minimum wage
Should send citizens into rage.
- - - A min. wage, of course, is
- - - To free market forces
Like freedom locked up in a cage!

Chicken Little Weather Report -- a limerick
Posted here for 6-10-02.

They cannot predict rain or shine
As forecast next month to assign.
- - - To say global warming
- - - Is now clearly forming
Is lunacy; it's asinine!

Freedom
Posted here for 6-3-02.

It made the greatest nation yet,
With spirit, spunk, and hope beset,
With boundless opportunity
To be the best that you could be.

But still the enemies conspire
To set the Freedom Ship afire,
To sink the hopes and drown the crew
And turn a country free askew.

For they wish not for liberty
And promise of prosperity;
They wish, instead, for world control,
To rule the planet as a whole.

So freedom's fate is on the line.
Will it endure; will it decline?
With mankind's future now at stake,
We have a vital choice to make.

Rilya Wilson -- a limerick
Posted here for 5-27-02.

The story of poor Rilya shows
What every wise citizen knows:
- - - With government "care"
- - - You ought to beware!
At bungling and blunders, they're pros!

Jimmy Carter Is at It Again -- a limerick
Posted here for 5-20-02.

When Carter ennobled the phrase
"The U.S. is filled with malaise,"
- - - He gave our canal
- - - Away! What a pal!
I hope down in Cuba he stays!

The FBI -- Federal Bureau of Incompetence -- a limerick
Posted here for 5-13-02.

Ignoring each clear warning sign,
They said everything was just fine!
- - - But in New York town,
- - - The towers came down.
Just when will the bunglers resign?

Hating Mankind
Posted here for 5-6-02.

They lied about the spotted owl, and Alar, DDT,
"Poor" sucker fish at Klamath, and some lynx hair on a tree.
They first said global cooling surely would be our demise,
Then said, "Oops," global warming: certain death as oceans rise.

The acid rain, the aerosols, and Freon all conspire
To guarantee an outcome with a consequence that's dire.
By crushing spirits, breaking hearts, and dashing many hopes,
They're not environmentalists, but merely misanthropes.

Confrontation
Posted here for 4-29-02.

Like trains racing toward one another,
The U.S., UN will collide,
For freedom, we pledge to each other,
Cannot world dominion abide.

We sharpen our swords for the battle,
While globalists, poised for the kill,
Advance, as our leaders just prattle.
We have the might; have we the will?

Freedom's Beacon
Posted here for 4-22-02.

The lights of Freedom's Beacon shine
With timid beam but grand design,
As leaders our protections chafe
While we're assured they'll make us safe.

Infringements on our liberties
Are like a chronic, dread disease.
Repubs and Dems are both alike:
To garner power, they're poised to strike.

Protecting freedom, liberty,
Is not our leaders' job, you see.
At least, indeed, so it would seem,
Though they would charge that I blaspheme.

But in the end the duty falls
On common folks to mount the walls
And hold the fort, protect the lines,
To guarantee the Beacon shines.

Biting the Hand that Frees You -- a limerick
Posted here for 4-15-02.

Some blacks seem intent to reveal
Contempt and disdain with a zeal.
- - - They spit in the face
- - - Of kindness and grace
With each reparations appeal.

African Americans -- a limerick
Posted here for 4-7-02.

Name changes will now and then stem
From charges the old names condemn.
- - - But African whites --
- - - With U.S. birth rights --
Just what, pray tell, do we call them?

[With thanks to Jay Leno's wife for raising the question.]

Sovereignty's Last Days
Posted here for 4-1-02.

When liberty is taken, gone,
And we are stripped of freedom's song,
When guns are seized, and property
Is hijacked, governmentally,

Just then the people will bemoan
Allegiance to the fed'ral throne,
And they will scratch their heads and say,
"How come our system's gone astray?"

A precious few who saw the signs
That heralded profound declines,
They shouted to a blasé crowd
With words the public disallowed.

Too many chose to disregard
What they considered crazed canard,
And thus a mighty era ends,
As tyranny, entrenched, transcends.

Enlarging Our Vocabulary
Posted here for 3-25-02.

"To Bork" is to prevent a qualified man
From taking an office by votes partisan.
But now there's a new word that means the same thing:
The verb -- thank you, Democrats -- "to Pickering."

Eclipsing the First Amendment -- a limerick
Posted here for 3-18-02.

Protection of free speech is prime:
Just say what you want -- any time.
- - - But liberal ways
- - - Are such that these days,
Your thoughts now may well be a crime.

Bosom Buddies -- a limerick
Posted here for 3-11-02.

The lie and the lib'ral are friends.
The latter on former depends.
- - - Without their deceit,
- - - All lib'ral plans meet
Rejection, when fraudulence ends!

A Conservative Judge? Harrumph! -- a limerick
Posted here for 3-4-02.

[Item: "Senate Democrats, intent on stopping President Bush from nominating conservatives to the U.S. Supreme Court, have seized on the U.S. Circuit Court nomination of Charles Pickering, Sr. as a chance to practice the vicious techniques they used to stop Robert Bork's nomination to the Supreme Court in 1987, and also to send a message of intimidation to the White House." Quoted from "Democrats Bork Pickering as Test Run for Bush Supreme Court Nominations," by David Freddoso, Human Events, February 25, 2002, page 1. Address: 1 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001. Phone: 202-216-0600. Website.]

As Dems cast aspersions on Pickering,
His hopes for the judgeship are flickering.
- - - Conservative, he,
- - - A judge cannot be,
Say liberals snorting and snickering.

Liberals and Multiculturalism -- a limerick
Posted here for 2-25-02.

Diversity! It is their creed,
Supported with each word and deed.
- - - They love every fellow --
- - - White, brown, black, and yellow --
As long as with them they've agreed.

They Keep Insisting Diversity Is So Wonderful! -- a limerick
Posted here for 2-11-02.

Tell me why, if indeed it's so grand,
Is it constantly praised - - understand?
- - - What's naturally good
- - - Is well understood,
And its worth doesn't need a brass band.

[Do we hear over and over again how wonderful freedom is? Or capitalism? Or the U.S. Constitution? Insistence on how simply marvelous "diversity" is, is a red flag that it's not.]

All Those in Favor of Ending the Recession, Forget it! -- a limerick
Posted here for 2-4-02.

Tom Daschle declares it's no sin
To keep our affairs in a spin.
- - - Recession is great --
- - - Makes him salivate --
Because then the Democrats win!

The Planted Fur Caper -- a limerick
Posted here for 1-28-02.

[Item from The Washington Times National Weekly Edition, (January 7-13, 2002, page 23): "Government scientists planted samples of lynx hairs in a . . . national forest . . . Congressional leaders and some Bush administration officials . . . believe the intention was to block use and development of public land. . . ."]

The plan was, with fur from the lynx,
To fake where they live now, me thinks,
- - - So government bands
- - - Could close public lands.
This leftist philosophy stinks!

Bill Clinton: King of the Jungle -- a limerick
Posted here for 1-21-02.

[Item: Our immediate past President recently convened a meeting with his henchmen to spread the word that all those reports of his inactivity and disinterest in dealing with terrorism are really just vicious right-wing political spin. He was relentless in his quest to protect the country from terrorist threats . . . he assures us.]

No longer Commander and Chief,
He lies, giving us no relief.
- - - From truth he abstains
- - - And so he remains
Commander of great Disbelief.

Now that a Republican Is Again President -- a limerick
Posted here for 1-14-02.

The plight of the homeless, we find,
Was gone (out of sight, out of mind).
- - - For eight Clinton years
- - - The Plight "disappears,"
But now re-emerges, enshrined.

A Democrat's Strategy -- a limerick
Posted here for 1-7-02.

Tom Daschle decided, it seems,
What's needed to bolster his dreams,
- - - Is woe, economic,
- - - And fear, astronomic,
To serve his election day schemes.
