"When the Center for Media and Public Affairs made a non-partisan evaluation of network news broadcasts, it found that during the active war against [then-Iraqi dictator] Saddam Hussein, 51 percent of the reports about the conflict were negative. Six months after the land battle ended, 77 percent were negative; in the 2004 general election, 89 percent were negative; by the spring of 2006, 94 percent were negative. This decline in media support was much faster than during Korea or Vietnam." [If you only hear one side of a story, which side will you believe?]

"'[L]ess than a week before the midterm elections, four workers from Acorn, the liberal activist group that has registered millions of voters, [were] indicted by a federal grand jury for submitting false voter-registration forms to the Kansas City, Missouri, election board. But hey, who needs voter-ID laws?' the Wall Street Journal said in an editorial. 'We wish this were an aberration, but allegations of fraud have tainted Acorn voter drives across the country. Acorn workers have been convicted in Wisconsin and Colorado, and investigations are still under way in Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania,' the newspaper said."

"Clean elections crusader Ralph Nader and his 2004 presidential running mate Peter Camejo have been ordered to pay $80,000 in court costs for their fraud-laden nominating petition drive in Pennsylvania. Nader's petitions contained thousands of made-up voter names. The August 24 story (which the New York Times buried on page A23) reports that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling that called the petition drive 'the most deceitful and fraudulent exercise ever perpetrated upon this court.'"

"Jose Palomino [. . .] had been working in the United States for 23 years but still did not understand when a police officer shouted 'Down! Down!' The officer ended up pepper-spraying Mr. Palomino and hitting him with his baton. Mr. Garcia [former Texas state legislator and civil rights chairman for the League of United Latin American Citizens] says the officer's actions may have been justified by Mr. Palomino's refusal to obey, but it was not Mr. Palomino's fault he did not speak English. "About half of Americans born at the turn of the 20th century had blue eyes, according to a 2002 Loyola University study in Chicago. By mid-century that number had dropped to a third. Today only about 1 of every 6 Americans has blue eyes, said Mark Grant, the epidemiologist who conducted the study. [. . .] A century ago, 80 percent of people married within their ethnic group, Grant said. Blue eyes -- a genetically recessive trait -- were routinely passed down, especially among people of English, Irish, and Northern European ancestry. By mid-century, a person's level of education -- and not ethnicity -- became the primary factor in selecting a spouse. As intermarriage between ethnic groups became the norm, blue eyes began to disappear, replaced by brown."
-- "Faded Blues," by Douglas Belkin, writing on "Don't It Make My Blue Eyes Brown," in the October 17, 2006 Boston Globe, as quoted in The Washington Times National Weekly Edition, October 30, 2006, page 29. Address: 3600 New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20002. E-mail. Website.

"Paul Butler is a former U.S. Attorney-turned-law-professor, who thinks that when black juries decide the fate of black defendants who are clearly guilty, they should first decide whether it is good for black people if the accused is sent to prison. If not, they should acquit. He openly promotes 'jury nullification,' whereby jurors make decisions without regard for the evidence. 'I do want to subvert the criminal justice system,' he said unapologetically."

"It was parents' orientation at my son's new college when the young female co-ed introduced her academic pursuit as 'Women's Studies.' [. . .] 'Where are the degrees in Men's Studies?' I wanted to ask. Of course, there aren't any. Only the pro-lesbian, ego-centric, sexually perverse 'Women's Studies' majors and minors are considered politically correct. The clear bigotry and plain ridiculousness of such classes, and the messages they send our college men and women, seemed lost on the poor young girl. The reality is that she and thousands of co-eds across the country are being steeped in nothing more than the bitter propaganda, indoctrination and hypocrisy that fill the caldron of radical feminism."

"Seventeen European nations are now at what demographers call 'lowest-low' fertility -- 1.3 [lifetime] births per woman, the point at which you're so far down the death spiral you can't pull out. "Here is 2004 Democratic presidential candidate Dennis J. Kuchinich's formula for dealing with terrorists. 'We prepare for war so grandly,' he said on the floor of the House. 'Let us prepare for peace grandly by looking fearlessly and deep into the hearts of those who wish us harm, and find that spark of recognition that connects us to a common humanity, and from that draw a flicker of hope to enkindle the warm glow of peace. After 9/11, we asked, Why do they hate us? Isn't it time for us to ask, Why do we hate them?' Kucinich. who advocates a Cabinet-level 'Department of Peace' to promote non-violence, says that the solution is to explore human relations 'as the science of the human heart, in which we always have the capacity through courage, communication, patience. and understanding to turn hate into love, and to beat our swords into plowshares.'"

"Even when not driven by political bias -- an exceedingly rare occurrence globally -- television news presents a thoroughly distorted picture of the world. Because it is almost entirely dependent upon pictures, TV news is only capable of showing human suffering in, or caused by, free countries. So even if the BBC or CNN were interested in showing the suffering of millions of Sudanese blacks or North Koreans -- and they are not interested in so doing -- they cannot do it because reporters cannot visit Sudan or North Korea and video freely. Likewise, China's decimation and annexation of Tibet, one of the world's oldest ongoing civilizations, never made it to television."
